Man Camp: Backpacking

Yesterday we got back from an AMAZING backpacking trip to Ice Lake.

Without a doubt it was the number one highlight so far for most of the guys here at camp.

We ended up doing getting to the trailhead at 9pm and did an incredibly cool night-hike up to our campsite in the lower basin of Ice Lake. We then had a crack-of-dawn wake up where we quickly made it up about 12,000 ft so that we could hang out at both Ice Lake and Island Lake.

After a little exploring we were down and off the mountain a little after noon so that we wouldn't have to worry about getting caught in unpredictable summertime colorado storms.

MAN CAMP

Today we kicked off our second annual MAN CAMP!

All of our lady staff members have officially left for the summer and Kivu is not under the complete control of our guys staff... and we couldn't be more excited!

Over the next week, 19 campers are going to get a chance to simply be men.

No women.
No judgement.
No outside influences trying to force them into a feminized, worldly box.

Just pure, fun, testosterone-fueled adventure.

It is our goal to help these awesome 19 dudes rediscover what it means to be a true man as we seek out Jesus together. We will be working to help equip these guys with real-world, tangible skills that we believe every man should possess, while also giving them the experience of a lifetime.

Mastering the Mountain Bikes

On a mountain biking trip, there are three main components to an amazing trip: good people, good weather, and lots of riding. Yesterday, we got all three!
The campers we took out were so much fun, they had the best mentality of tackling all challenges head on! They proved to us just how infectious positive attitudes are and how to have the best time on the mountain bikes! Such a great group.

MEGA CAMP: The largest term in Kivu HISTORY!

Today, we kick off the largest term in Kivu history!

Since Kivu made the switch from K-Colorado to Kivu about 5 years ago, we have NEVER had a term that is as jam-packed with awesome campers as this one. Just to put it in to perspective; last term we had about 37 guy campers... we now have 71 killer dudes in guys camp! Almost twice the amount from term 2!

To say that camp is buzzing with energy would be a HUGE understatement.

In every single cabin that we have, campers and staff are riding this incredible wave of energy as we get to reunite with old friends and begin to form new, life-long bonds.

From serving extra meals to jam-packed trips and CRAZY parties, this term is definitely going to have fresh, exciting, challenging feel that hasn't been felt at Kivu since 2008.

Term 3 is here. Campers are all checked in. MEGA CAMP is underway.
