Term 1...That's a Wrap

Well this morning I am peering out of the window of the office with sorrow in my heart. It is always a sad morning watching campers we have built relationships with leave. But this term has been one of the best by far. Looking back on it, I have seen God works in the lives of these teenagers in so many ways.

On the last night of camp we always do a thing we call "Say So." It is a time where all of camp heads to the Warming Hut(dining hall) after the parents leave that night. There, we enjoy some Icy Juicys and just have to for campers to come up and share stories and memories from camp. This time is always a reminder of how God really makes Kivu a home for so many people.

Last night I will not forget when MargaretAnn got up and talked about Kivu being her home, and how it does not end here. We can all go back home and make this same community there. It might look a little different, but Kivu is not noun, it is not just a place, it can be a verb. Loving God and Loving Others is a dynamic action that is always in motion, and that is what we do here at Kivu. We Love God and Love Others for exactly who they are. In this world, that may seem weird, and people may ask why. Our answer: because that is exactly what Jesus did and does for us everyday.

Here, we have built friendships that will last a lifetime: with campers, with staff, with God. Kivu has been a place of rest, a place of crazy fun, a place of home, a place of vacation, a place where Gods moves, a place Satan tries to attack, a place thousands and thousands of kids hold dear to their hearts.

Term 1: Thanks for the memories! It was an awesome ride!
